ISO 9000

Economy Term

ISO 9000 is a set of international standards that specify requirements for a quality management system. The ISO 9000 family of standards includes ISO 9001, which outlines the requirements for a quality management system that can be certified, as well as ISO 9004, which provides guidance on the implementation and improvement of a quality management system.

The ISO 9000 standards focus on key principles of quality management, including customer focus, leadership, continuous improvement, and process approach. They also provide requirements for documentation, training, and internal auditing.

ISO 9000 is widely used in the industry as a way to demonstrate a commitment to quality and to meet the expectations of customers and stakeholders. Many organizations seek ISO 9000 certification to improve their competitiveness and gain access to new markets. ISO 9000 certification can also help organizations to reduce costs and improve efficiency by identifying and correcting quality problems.

In addition to its use in the industry, ISO 9000 is also used in other sectors, such as healthcare, education, and government. Its principles and requirements have been adapted for specific industries and applications, such as the automotive industry*s ISO/TS 16949 standard.
