Gasoline lifts consumer prices in June

CPI U.S. Economy




The Consumer price Indexes grew in June by 0.6 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, reported by the Labor Department. The cost of living rose by 0.6 % over the past 12 months, as the core rate increased on the higher rate than total consumer prices.

With prices rising across the board, consumer had to paid more money for food, energy, gasoline, while within communication sector prices declined.

Core CPI the measure of retail-level inflation that strips out food and energy prices to get a better handle on underlying inflationary trends, increased less than a half of total cpi, by 0.2 % on the seasonally adjusted basis.
Some economists prefer core cpi over the total CPI, because they believe it provides a better idea of longer-term inflationary trends.
Closely monitored CPI excluding food and energy increased by 1.2 % from June 2019.






Fuels & Transportation
Energy and commoditie prices grew by higher rate than in previous month, commodities by 1.2% and energy soared by 5.1 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, energy dropped by -12.6 % from June 2019.

CPI Fuel The Consumer Price Index for Transportation advanced by 2.50 %, from May 2020 and fell by -8.20 %, from June 2019.

New vehicles remained unchanged from May 2020 and fell by -0.20 %, from June 2019.

Gasoline all types climbed by 12.30 %, from May 2020 and fell by -23.40 %, from June 2019. Public transportation remained unchanged from May 2020 and remained unchanged from June 2019.

Food   Housing & Apparel
Food & beverages prices have increased by smaller rate than a month ago, food prices increased by 0.6 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, led by increases in alcoholic beverages, meats, poultry, fish and food at home prices. Over the past 12 months, food prices grew by 4.5 %.
Prices for housing have increased on the same pace like in previous month, housing increased by 0.2 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, as prices for household furnishings increased the most. Over the past 12 months, prices for housing have climbed by 2 %.


Apparel prices continue to grow by higher rate, apparel prices rose by 1.7 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, led by price increases for mens, boys, infants and toddlers apparel. Apparel prices dropped by -7.3 % from June 2019.
