Consumer prices continued to grow in July

CPI U.S. Economy

Consumers paid more money for a broad range of goods and services last month, adding to inflationary worries.
The Labor Department announced total cpi edge up by 0.2 % in July on the seasonally adjusted basis. Cpi jumped by 2.9 % for the year, as the core rate increased on the slower rate than total consumer price index.

Core CPI the measure of retail-level inflation that strips out food and energy prices to get a better handle on underlying inflationary trends, increased equally to total consumer price index by 0.2 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, hospital services, lodging and tuition prices grew above average, Medical care prices services fell.
Some economists prefer core cpi over the total CPI, because they believe it provides a better idea of longer-term inflationary trends.
