Producer prices continued to grow

PPI U.S. Economy

U.S. Wholesale prices continued to rise in November, adding to inflationary worries.
The Labor Department announced total PPI edge up by 0.1 % in November on the seasonally adjusted basis. The lower cost of fuel is a plus for the economy at large, giving consumers more money to save or spend on other things. Energy is a major household cost. Overall PPI grew by 2.5 % over the past 12 months, as the core rate increased on the higher rate than total producer prices.

Other Goods
Investors are monitoring how corporations are passing along rising commodity prices onto consumers, which may signal the rise of inflation.
PPI (Picture Autor: Hinrich licence Creative Commons) Crude materials prices have increased on the same pace like in previous month, finished goods dropped by -5.3 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, where prices for manufacturing materials declined the most. Excluding volatile food and energy, core rate, which the Federal Reserve pays close attention for signs of inflation grew by 2.4 % on the seasonally adjusted basis. Over the past 12 months, crude materials prices decreased by -0.7 %.

Yet using a different measure of inflation that strips out food and energy, the core rate grew on the same pace like in previous month by 0.3 % on the seasonally adjusted basis.
Core PPI, which is believed to be closely watched by the Federal Reserve, because it usually gives a better idea of longer-term inflationary trends.
excluding volatile food and energy categories, the core rate of producer price inflation rose by 2.7 % in the past 12 months.
