Producer prices on the rise again in July

U.S. Wholesale prices rebounded in July after the decline in June,
The Wholesale price Index grew in July by 0.6 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, reported by the Labor Department. Over the past 12 months, while excluding food and energy, core rate increased compare to total ppi, producer prices of finished goods decreased by -0.4 %.

Other Goods
Closely monitored PPI excluding food and energy surged by 0.4 % smaller than total producer price on the seasonally adjusted basis, led by price increases in copper and construction materials. Prices for materials for manufacturing deteriorated.
The core index is viewed by the Federal Reserve as a more accurate gauge of long-term inflationary pressure because the price of food and energy are volatile month to month.
The cost of living rose by 0.7 % over the past 12 months.

Prices for intermediate goods continue to grow by higher rate, intermediate prices rose by 1.5 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, as prices for processed fuels increased the most. Core intermediate prices excluding food and energy jumped by 0.5 % on the seasonally adjusted basis. The core component of PPI is viewed as a key leading indicator of inflation. Prices for intermediate goods faded by -3.6 % for the year.

Intermediate products are items such as steel, processed from iron ore, before it is made into cars.

Nondurable Goods

Prices for finished consumer goods have increased by higher rate than in previous period, finished goods increased by 0.8 % on the seasonally adjusted basis. From July 2019, prices for finished goods deteriorated by -2 %.
Crude materials prices have increased by higher rate than in previous period, finished goods sunk by -0.7 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, where prices for manufacturing materials declined the most. Core rate grew by 0.3 % on the seasonally adjusted basis. The core component is viewed as a key leading indicator of inflation. Prices for crude materials dropped by -16.3 % from July 2019.
