Wholesale prices grow less in April 2022, then a month ago

U.S. Producer price index continued to rise in April 2022, but on the lower pace.
The Wholesale price Index grew in April 2022 by 0.5 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, reported by the Labor Department. Food, materials for manufacturing and crude petroleum prices grew above averge in the last month. From April 2021, ppi jumped by 11 % mounting inflationary pressure.

Other Goods
Core PPI excluding food and energy increased less than a half of total PPI, by 0.2 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, boosted by higher prices for durable goods, copper and organic chemicals. .
Some economists prefer core ppi over the total PPI, because they believe it provides a better idea of longer-term inflationary trends.
From April 2021, ppi jumped by 8.3 %.

Prices for intermediate goods continue to grow by higher rate, intermediate prices grew by 2.2 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, as prices for processed fuels increased the most. Core intermediate rate rose by 1.4 % on the seasonally adjusted basis. The core component of PPI is viewed as a key leading indicator of inflation. Compare to a year ago intermediate prices soared by 21.9 %.

Intermediate products are items such as steel, processed from iron ore, before it is made into cars.

Nondurable Goods

Prices for finished consumer goods have increased by smaller rate than a month ago, finished goods prices rose by 1.3 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, cost for food grew the most, led by price increase for eggs, pork grew by 4 %. Compare to a year ago prices for finished goods soared by 16.3 %.
Crude materials prices have rebounded from decline in previous period, the cost of raw materials soared by 5.3 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, as prices for crude fuel increased the most. Core crude prices excluding food and energy jumped by 0.5 % on the seasonally adjusted basis. The core component is viewed as a key leading indicator of inflation. Compare to a year ago crude materials prices soared by 48.1 %.
