Consumer spending increased by 0.8 %. Income growth will have to be watched closely in coming months as the recent trend of spending at the expense of savings is not sustainable, economists noted. Since spending rose more than income, the individual savings in April 202 rate dropped to 3.9 % from 3.6 % of disposable income.
Spending on nondurable goods marked the biggest increase in April 202. An increase in spending is generally a good sign since personal consumption is the main ingredient of U.S. growth, accounting for as much as two-thirds of economic activity. Higher spending tends to spur businesses to add jobs and invest, leading to more jobs and more spending.

Wages have increased on the same pace like in previous month, with biggest gain in Manufacturing, wages in Government Sector grew as well, the supplements to wages and salaries grew less than total wages, as employer boost contributions for government social insurance.
