Booking continued to fell after last month decrease of -1.47%, but excluding volatile transportation sector orders grew 0.32 %.Orders for U.S.-made products designed to last at least three years fell by -2.23 % to $276 billions, a decrease by $6 billions from $282 in November in December on the seasonally adjusted basis, largely because of lower aircrafts and parts orders, down -45.74 % to $8 billions, accounting for 2.89 % of total durable goods orders, reported by the Commerce Department. Suggesting some hesitancy on the part of businesses to continue to expand until they see further strengthening of the U.S. economy. Durable Goods orders dropped by -6.53 % from Nov. 2023, but unfilled orders grew by 1.55 %.

Inventories grew in December by 0.45 % to $533 billions, an increase of $2 billions from $531 in November on the seasonally adjusted basis, as inventories of aircrafts and parts grew 2.04 % to $86 billions, reported by the Commerce Department. Inventory to shipments ratio fell to 1.85 from 1.86 in the previous month.

Core capital equipment goods, which the government uses to help calculate quarterly reports on U.S. growth, orders increased by 0.53 % despite decrease in total orders, on the seasonally adjusted basis and shipments by 0.61 %.
Such core capital goods orders are considered the best gauge of capital spending by businesses.
Core capital goods orders increased by 1.16 % and shipments by 0.58 % from Nov. 2023.

In November new orders were revised to -1.47 % decline to $282 billions and shipments to $285 billions a decrease of -0.19 %.

Unfilled orders decreased by -0.46 % on the seasonally adjusted basis, as unfilled orders for computers and related products fell the most, down -3.44 % to $1 billions. total durable goods inventories advanced by 1.55 % for the year.
In December Shipments jumped by 0.93 % to $287 billions, an increase of $3 billions from $285 in November on the seasonally adjusted basis, as shipments of aircrafts and parts grew 20.71 % to $15 billions, reported by the U.S. Commerce Department. Shipments excluding the volatile transportation sector, grew by 0.06 %.
