U.S. Auto sales fell in January, domestic manufacturers were hit hardest

General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co. posted lower January U.S. car sales, while industry-wide sales fell as well led by car sales assembled within U.S..


With the shortages in some key vehicle segments, as well as some added uncertainty around price increases, incentive reductions, led to the decline in industry's volume.


In JanuaryU.S. auto sales deteriorated by -4.7 % from the same month a year ago to 1,111,300 vehicles, or -54,600 autos.

In JanuarySales of the light trucks in the U.S. deteriorated by -3.4 %. Light truck manufacturers said they sold 861,300 vehicles in January in the U.S., down from 891,700 a year ago and -10.5 % below October total of 962,500.

For the same period world wide vehicle sales rose by 4.97 % sequentialy and advanced by 10.55 % from same quarter year ago.
