A sketchy economy didn't stop more new car buyers from taking the plunge in April, with major auto makers showing double-digit improvements in vehicle sales from a year ago.
The rapid sales pace bodes well for auto makers, and if it keeps up, auto makers will be encouraged to further ramp up manufacturing production. This could mean even more rapid revenue growth.
U.S. auto sales jumped in April by 17.2 % from April a year ago, to 1,498,300 units, higher than recent number of average monthly sales.

Light truck sales jumped in April by 20.9 %, to 1,211,200 units. As customer demand for light truck vehicle remain strong in April. light truck U.S. marketshare was at 80.84 %.
Sales momentum built as April unfolded, with higher fuel prices driving consumer demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles in the second half of the month.
