Terms of Use (License)

1) License & Permitted Use

Subject to these Terms and any applicable order form or subscription agreement, CSIMarket grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services for your internal business purposes or personal research.

This one license covers every channel through which we deliver the data: the website, file downloads, our licensed datasets and products, the REST API, and the MCP server. Receiving the data through a different channel does not widen what you may do with it; see §3, and §5 and §6 for the API- and MCP-specific terms.

• Internal analyses & models. You may use data and content to create internal analyses, dashboards, and models.
• Personal research. Individuals may use the Services for personal, non-commercial research.
• Non-commercial citation. You may quote short excerpts or display small, non-substantial snippets of tabular data with attribution and a link back (see §8).

Any other use, such as redistribution, resale, automated bulk extraction, or embedding substantial portions of our databases, requires a separate written license.

2) Prohibited Activities

• Scraping & bulk extraction. Automated scraping/crawling/harvesting (including headless browsers) without written permission is prohibited.
• Rate limits & controls. Do not bypass rate limits, authentication, paywalls, or access controls; respect robots.txt and headers.
• Redistribution. Republishing, mirroring, or systematic distribution to third parties requires a redistribution/OEM license.
• Model training. Using our content/data to train or fine-tune AI/ML models is prohibited unless expressly licensed.
• Security violations. Probing/scanning/testing for vulnerabilities, interfering with integrity, or accessing non-public areas is prohibited.
• Agent-driven bulk harvesting. Directing an AI agent or automated client to loop MCP tools or API endpoints in order to enumerate, mirror or bulk-download the dataset is prohibited. An agent doing this is performing bulk extraction, however the calls are paced.
• Sharing credentials with third parties. Disclosing an API key or MCP token to another organization, to an AI provider outside the normal operation of your own client, or to any party not covered by your licence is prohibited, as is pasting credentials into prompts, shared configuration files or public repositories.
• Proxying access to non-licensees. Standing between us and unlicensed parties, by re-exposing our API or MCP tools through your own endpoint, wrapper, bot, agent or assistant so that others can query CSIMarket data under your credentials, requires a redistribution license.

3) Delivery Channels: Website, Downloads, API & MCP

We deliver the same licensed data through four channels. The channel does not change what you are allowed to do with the data. It only changes how you receive it. Unless your order form or subscription agreement says otherwise, all four are licensed for your internal use, and everything beyond that needs a separate commercial license.

• Website access. Browsing csimarket.com and its analytics pages for your own research or your organization's internal work. Systematically copying pages into another system is bulk extraction, not browsing (see §2).
• File downloads. CSV and Excel exports and bulk historical datasets, including the industry benchmarking and quantitative factor & risk products. Files may be stored and used inside the licensed organization; passing the files themselves to anyone outside it requires a redistribution license.
• The REST API. api.csimarket.com, authenticated with per-organization keys and governed additionally by §5.
• The MCP server. Model Context Protocol access for AI clients, governed additionally by §6.

Across all four channels:

• Internal use is the default grant. External redistribution or public display requires a commercial/OEM license.
• Derived works. Internal derived analyses are allowed. Public redistribution of derived datasets that reveal CSIMarket series requires permission.
• Caching. Local caching for internal performance is allowed; resyndication caches or CDNs serving third parties are not.
• Attribution. When displaying numbers or charts publicly, include attribution per §8.

4) Subscriptions, Plans & Scope of Access

What you can reach is defined by the plan you bought, and it is enforced on every request rather than by policy alone.

• Scoped access. Each licence carries scopes that gate specific endpoints and tools. For example, quant.read gates the quantitative factor and risk panel. A request outside your scopes is refused, whether it arrives over the API or through an MCP tool.
• Depth limits. Plans also set how much history a response returns. Requesting more than your plan allows does not extend it.
• Free and test accounts. Free or evaluation access exists so you can assess the data before licensing it. It carries narrower rights than a paid plan: evaluation and internal testing only, no production use, no redistribution, and no public display.
• Rate limits. Automatic rate limits apply to every plan. Deliberately circumventing them, whether by rotating keys, rotating IPs, spreading calls across distributed clients, or creating parallel accounts to multiply quota, is a material breach of these Terms, not a technical workaround.
• One licensee per key. Credentials are issued to a single legal entity. They may not be shared with affiliates, subsidiaries, contractors, clients or any other entity without a separate license, and they may not be used to serve data to people outside the licensee.
• Suspension. Non-payment or a lapsed licence suspends access immediately. Because licence status is validated live on each request, suspension takes effect at once, including on MCP sessions that are already open in an AI client.

5) API Terms

• Keys and responsibility. API keys are issued per organization. You are responsible for all traffic made with your keys, whether or not you authorized it. Keep them secret, out of client-side code, public repositories, shared documents and support tickets, and tell us at data.info@csimarket.com promptly if a key may be compromised so we can rotate it.
• Enterprise controls. IP whitelisting, HMAC request signing and scope-based access are available on enterprise plans. Where you enable them, you remain responsible for maintaining the whitelist and protecting the signing secret.
• Caching. You may cache responses locally for your own use, to reduce latency and call volume. Refresh cached values in line with the update frequency of the dataset so what you show is not materially stale, and do not retain a cache after your licence ends. You may not re-host responses on a third-party CDN, a public mirror, or any endpoint reachable by parties who are not licensed.
• No systematic extraction. Using the API to reconstruct a substantial part of our database, to assemble a competing dataset, or to build a product that substitutes for a CSIMarket licence is prohibited, regardless of how many requests it takes or how they are paced.
• Output formats. JSON, NDJSON, CSV, Parquet and bulk ZIP responses carry exactly the same restrictions as the API responses they are derived from. Converting a response to another format does not create an unrestricted file.
• Change and deprecation. We may add, change, version or retire endpoints. For paid plans we aim to give at least 90 days' notice before a breaking change or removal, published in the API changelog and sent to the technical contact on the account, and to keep the superseded version available during that window. Security fixes and changes forced by an upstream data source may need to move faster.
• Display and attribution. Any permitted public-facing use of API-sourced values must carry attribution per §8, and must not present the data in a way that implies CSIMarket endorses your product or conclusions.

6) MCP Server & AI Assistant Access

Our Model Context Protocol server lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI clients query CSIMarket data in natural language. It is a licensed access channel, not a grant of new rights. Every restriction in §5 applies identically to data received through MCP.

• Credentials. Access is authorized by signing in with your CSIMarket credentials, after which your AI client holds short-lived access and refresh tokens on your behalf. Those tokens are yours to protect: do not paste them into prompts, shared configuration files, screenshots, public repositories or support tickets. You are responsible for how your AI client and its operator handle them.
• Your AI provider sees the results. Tool responses are delivered into your AI client and are therefore visible to that client and its provider. Choosing which provider to connect is your decision; what happens to our data inside that provider's systems is governed by your agreement with them, not by us.
• No training, embedding or retrieval corpora. Consistent with the AI & Model Training Notice above, you must not use CSIMarket data received through MCP for model training or fine-tuning, to generate embeddings, to populate a vector store, or to build a retrieval-augmented generation corpus. Normal, ephemeral conversational use, such as asking a question, getting an answer and working with it in that session, is exactly what MCP access is for. Persisting our data into a durable AI knowledge base is not, unless expressly licensed.
• No agent-driven harvesting. No automated agent may loop MCP tools to enumerate or bulk-download the dataset. Scope enforcement and rate limits apply to agents precisely as they do to humans, and an agent that paginates through the universe is performing bulk extraction under §2 no matter how the calls are spaced.
• Model output is informational and non-advisory. Anything an AI client produces from our data, such as summaries, comparisons, recommendations or charts, is informational only and is not investment advice; see §9. How your AI client renders, summarizes, abbreviates or misstates our data is outside our control, and we do not warrant its output. Our liability for anything arising from an AI client's handling of our data is subject to the cap in §11.
• Redistribution needs a license. Passing MCP tool output into another product, chatbot, agent, or downstream service, including anything your customers or end users can query, requires a separate commercial license from data.info@csimarket.com.
• Suspension is immediate. Licence status is checked on every tool call. If your subscription lapses or is suspended, MCP access stops at once, including in sessions already connected.

7) Market Data, Delays & Third-Party Sources

• Delayed quotes. Intraday market data is delayed per exchange requirements: 15 minutes for Nasdaq and other exchanges. Nothing we deliver, through any channel including MCP, is a real-time market data feed, and it must not be presented as one.
• Exchange time. Quotes are stated in local exchange time.
• Sources. Fundamentals are derived principally from public regulatory filings, together with exchange data and other third-party sources. Some figures are extracted, normalized, standardized or computed by CSIMarket rather than reported verbatim by the issuer, so they may differ from a figure read directly off a filing.
• Accuracy limits. Filings are restated, sources revise their data, and extraction is imperfect, so values may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. Third-party source terms may also apply to their contributions.
• Corrections. If you find something wrong, tell us and we will review it. See §20.

8) Attribution & Linking

Where public use is permitted, include a visible notice such as:

API- and MCP-sourced content. The same notice applies to values obtained through the API or the MCP server whenever they appear publicly: in a published report, a client-facing dashboard, a public chatbot answer, or any other externally visible surface. Where the medium cannot carry a visible line next to the figure, place the attribution where a reader would reasonably look for it, such as a sources footer or an "about this data" panel. Attribution alone does not create a right to publish: public display still requires the appropriate license under §3.

9) No Investment Advice

The Services are for informational purposes only and do not constitute investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice, nor a recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell any security. CSIMarket is not an investment adviser or broker-dealer and does not provide personalized advice.

Intraday data may be delayed per exchange requirements. All quotes are in local exchange time. Fundamental and financial data are provided by CSIMarket.com and may be delayed, incomplete, or contain inaccuracies. Past performance is not indicative of future results. You should conduct your own due diligence and consult with a qualified professional regarding your specific situation.

10) Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Services, including datasets, compilations, selection/arrangement of data, software, trademarks, and content, are owned by CSIMarket or its licensors and protected by law.

11) Disclaimers; Limitation of Liability

AS IS. The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Accuracy. While we strive for accuracy, errors may occur; datasets may be delayed, incomplete, or contain inaccuracies.

Third-party AI clients. We do not warrant any third-party AI client, assistant, agent or model provider, nor how it handles, stores, renders, summarizes or reproduces CSIMarket data once delivered to it. Output generated by such a client is not our content and may misstate, omit or fabricate. Your relationship with that provider is your own.

Third-party sources. We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of data originating from exchanges, regulatory filings or other third-party sources.

Liability cap. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CSIMarket’s total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amounts paid by you for the Services during the twelve (12) months preceding the event, and in no event shall CSIMarket be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

12) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CSIMarket and its affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.

13) Termination & Suspension

We may suspend or terminate access at any time for conduct that violates these Terms, creates risk or legal exposure, or for non-payment. Upon termination, your license ends and you must cease use and destroy copies of data unless otherwise permitted by a separate agreement.

Suspension or termination revokes your API keys and MCP tokens immediately. Because licence status is validated on each request, in-flight API calls and connected MCP sessions stop working at once rather than at the end of a billing period. Any cached copies must be deleted per §5.

14) Compliance; Export; Sanctions

You represent that you are not subject to sanctions and will comply with applicable laws, including export controls and sanctions regimes, when using the Services.

15) Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of laws. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.

16) Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.

18) Cookies & Tracking (EU/UK GDPR + ePrivacy)

The public website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to analyze traffic, and to serve and measure advertising. The API and the MCP server set no cookies.

Our Privacy Policy is the authoritative document here: it lists the technologies actually in use, names the providers, explains the categories, and sets out the controls available to you. Read Privacy Policy §6 for the full table.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we will treat it as an opt-out request where legally required.

19) California Privacy (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA: to know, access, delete and correct personal information, to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

Our Privacy Policy is the authoritative document: §11 Your Rights states plainly whether we sell or share personal information, and gives the request channel and our response times.
