Hematopoietic Stem Cells

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are a type of adult stem cells found in bone marrow and blood. These cells have the unique ability to self-renew and differentiate into all types of blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

In the health care industry, HSCs are used in a variety of ways. They can be used in bone marrow transplants to treat certain types of leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood disorders. In these cases, the patient*s diseased bone marrow is replaced with healthy HSCs from a compatible donor.
