Inspire Medical Systems Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company offers the FDA-approved Inspire therapy, a closed-loop, minimally invasive neurostimulation treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients who fail or cannot tolerate positive airway pressure (PAP) treatments such as CPAP. Competitors in the PAP market include ResMed Inc., Philips BV, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited, and various regional and new-entrant manufacturers. In the US, the only direct neurostimulation competitor is Nyxoah SA and its subsidiary Nyxoah, Inc., which provide an open-loop, bilateral stimulation system without a respiratory sensor. LivaNova PLC has submitted an FDA application for a hypoglossal nerve stimulation device in the US. Outside the US, Nyxoah and LivaNova market similar second-line therapies. Additionally, Apnimed is developing a pharmaceutical treatment for OSA currently in Phase 3 trials, and the GLP-1 drug Zepbound (tirzepatide) received FDA approval in December 2024 for OSA treatment.
