Forward Air's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company operates in the North American transportation and logistics services industry, which is characterized by high competition and fragmentation with low barriers to entry. Its competitors include numerous asset-light logistics companies, asset-based carriers, integrated logistics companies, and third-party freight brokers. Additionally, competition arises from integrated air cargo carriers and passenger airlines. In the Expedited Freight segment, the company primarily competes with national and regional truckload carriers, less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers, and, to a lesser extent, integrated air cargo carriers and passenger and cargo airlines. The Omni Logistics segment competes within the third-party logistics (3PL) sector, focusing on freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution, and specialized services. Competitors in this segment range from small operators with limited geographic reach to larger companies with significantly greater financial resources and freight capacity.
