Cvr Energy Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The Petroleum Segment competes primarily on price, supply reliability, product grade availability, and location. Key competitive factors include crude oil and feedstock costs, refinery complexity and efficiency, product mix, distribution and transportation costs, and regulatory compliance such as the Renewable Fuel Standard. The company’s main competitors in the mid-continent region are CHS Inc.'s McPherson Refinery; HF Sinclair Corporation's El Dorado and Tulsa Refineries; Phillips 66 Company's Ponca Refinery; and Valero Energy Corporation's Ardmore Refinery. Additional competition arises from trading companies and refineries outside the region connected via pipeline systems near the Gulf Coast, Great Lakes, and Texas panhandle. The Nitrogen Fertilizer Segment faces global competition from domestic and foreign producers, with competition influenced by price, raw material and transportation costs, currency fluctuations, trade barriers, and regulations. Many competitors possess significantly greater financial and other resources.
