The company sells petroleum products primarily to customers near the Wynnewood Refinery and terminals on third-party distribution systems, including bulk sales into mid-continent markets via third-party pipelines. Shipments are mainly to Oklahoma, parts of Arkansas, and eastern Missouri, with pipeline access extending to Texas and neighboring states. Customers include retailers, railroads, farm cooperatives, and other refiners and marketers in Group 3 of the PADD II region. The company also sells hydrogen and refining by-products in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizer, LLC, an affiliate. In recent years, the top customer accounted for 12-13% of net sales, with the top two customers representing 27% of net sales in 2023. The company competes primarily on price, supply reliability, product grades, and location, facing competition from CHS Inc., HF Sinclair Corporation, Phillips 66 Company, and Valero Energy Corporation refineries in the mid-continent region, as well as trading companies and other refineries connected via pipeline systems. Gasoline demand is seasonal, peaking in summer, while diesel demand is highest during planting and harvesting seasons.
