Cf Industries Holdings Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The competitive landscape in the fertilizer industry is global and highly competitive, with competition primarily based on delivered price as well as factors such as low-carbon attributes, reliability, customer service, and product quality. During peak demand periods, product availability and delivery time also influence customer purchasing decisions. Key competitors with North American operations include Nutrien Ltd., Koch Fertilizer LLC, LSB Industries, CVR Partners, LP, and Yara International. Additional competition arises from products sourced from regions such as the Middle East, Trinidad, Africa, and Russia, where lower natural gas or feedstock costs and government subsidies may provide advantages. The markets for ammonia, urea, and UAN are widely traded with limited barriers to entry, resulting in ongoing competition from foreign-sourced products. Competitors may hold cost or other advantages if greenhouse gas restrictions are less stringent or not imposed in their respective countries compared to the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.

Cf Industries Holdings Inc's SWOT

Every point below is a fixed rule applied to a metric already shown elsewhere on this page (Market Structure, Profitability, Valuation, Run-Rate, Stock Performance, Quality Breadth) — not an independent strategic assessment. A blank quadrant means no rule was met, not that none apply.

Strengths

  • Operating margin 39.3 points above the industry median.
  • Return on equity 23.0 points above the industry aggregate.
  • Latest-quarter revenue run-rate is accelerating (+14.8% annualized vs trailing 12 months).
  • Outperforming the U.S.A. 500 over the trailing 12 months.

Weaknesses

  • Low relative market share vs the industry leader (0.46x).

Opportunities

  • Trades at a lower P/E than the industry average (8.7x vs 20.8x) despite a higher return on invested capital -- a possible re-rating opportunity.

Threats

  • High capital intensity requires continuous reinvestment just to keep pace with the industry.

Methodology: mechanical, rule-based SWOT. Each bullet reuses a figure already sourced and cited elsewhere on this page; nothing here is generated narrative or independent analyst judgment.
