Additional operating segments include Mexico, where the company holds a 66% interest in Granjas Carroll de Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. (Altosano), which raises hogs and produces fresh pork products primarily for the Mexican market, and Bioscience, which manufactures heparin products from hog raw materials for the healthcare industry.
The company has announced plans to build a combined fresh pork and packaged meats processing facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with an estimated investment of up to $1.3 billion over three years, subject to regulatory approvals.
