The company operates primarily in the U.S. property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry and faces competition from various sources. Competitors include insurers with internal technology and actuarial methods, statistical agents, and advisory organizations that provide underwriting rules, prospective loss costs, and coverage language. In the area of property-specific rating and underwriting information, competition comes from regional providers of commercial property inspections and surveys, as well as emerging InsurTech companies. The company also competes with specialty technology and consulting firms, information technology product and service vendors, management and strategy consulting firms, and specialized IT and analytical services firms.
