Trinseo Plc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company has reduced its exposure to cyclical markets by closing underperforming plants and product lines, including global styrene manufacturing; virgin polycarbonate production at Stade, Germany; methyl methacrylate production in Rho, Italy; acetone cyanohydrin production in Porto Marghera, Italy; and polystyrene production in Schkopau, Germany. It plans to source downstream styrene, polycarbonate, and methyl methacrylate from external suppliers. In the Engineered Materials segment, main competitors include Sabic, Covestro, Styrolution, Shanghai Pret Composites Co. Ltd., LG Chem, Lotte Chemical Corporation, and Kingfa for compound technologies; Kraiburg, Celanese, Avient, Hexpol, and BASF for thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs); and Roehm, Plaskolite, Mitsubishi Chemicals, and Schweiter Technologies for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resins and sheets. In the Latex Binders segment, principal competitors are BASF Group and Synthomer plc. The company competes through differentiated, sustainable, and reliable products, high-quality customer service, and strong customer relationships. The Latex Binders segment benefits from industry capacity reduction and consolidation, differentiating itself with value-added formulations and product development expertise supported by its research and development and Technical Services and Development teams.
