Southwest Gas Holdings Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

Southwest Gas faces competition primarily from electric utilities in the residential and small commercial markets within its service areas. Competition typically occurs during the initial installation phase when customers or builders select the type of equipment to install and operate, with customers generally continuing to use the chosen energy source for the life of the equipment. Southwest Gas also competes with interstate transmission pipeline companies, including El Paso, Kern River, Transwestern, Tuscarora, and Ruby, to provide service to certain large end-users. While renewable energy initiatives present competition to natural gas, Southwest Gas benefits from the abundance, low cost, resiliency, and reliability of natural gas, which management believes will not materially impact operating margins in the near term.
