Summit Midstream's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company operates in a competitive environment alongside other midstream companies, producers, and intrastate and interstate pipelines. Competition factors include reputation, commercial terms, acreage dedications, service levels, access to end-use markets, geographic proximity of assets to producers' acreage, and available gathering and processing capacity. The company may also encounter competition to gather production outside its Area of Mutual Interest (AMI) and to attract producer volumes to its gathering systems. Its revenue is generated by providing gathering, compression, treating, and processing services under primarily long-term, fee-based agreements with several of the largest and most active producers in North America.
