Description of Pfs Bancorp
PFS Bancorp, Inc., incorporated in February 2023, is the holding company for Peru Federal Savings Bank following its conversion from a mutual to a stock organization in October 2023. The company operates primarily through its wholly owned subsidiary, Peru Federal, a federally chartered savings bank headquartered in Peru, Illinois. Peru Federal conducts business from its main and branch offices in Peru, Illinois, focusing on accepting deposits and investing those funds in one- to four-family residential mortgage loans secured by properties in its primary market area, which includes LaSalle County and parts of adjacent Bureau and Putnam Counties in Illinois. The bank also originates commercial real estate loans, multi-family mortgage loans, construction and land development loans, commercial loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, and consumer loans, with a recent managed increase in higher-yielding commercial loans. It offers electronic banking services including mobile banking, online banking, bill pay, and electronic funds transfer via Zelle®. The primary source of revenue is interest income from loans and investments, with noninterest income being insignificant. Peru Federal is regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the FDIC and is a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank system. The bank's market area is predominantly rural, with an economy historically based on agriculture and also including healthcare, manufacturing, and services.
