Insteel Industries Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company is the largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications in the United States. The market is highly competitive, with competition based on price, quality, and service. Competitors include vertically integrated companies such as Wire Mesh Corporation, Nucor Corporation, and Oklahoma Steel and Wire, which produce both wire rod and concrete reinforcing products and offer multiple product lines across broad geographic areas. Smaller independent companies provide limited competition in certain markets. Primary competitors for welded wire reinforcement (WWR) products include Wire Mesh Corporation, Concrete Reinforcements, Inc., National Wire Products, Davis Wire Corporation, and Oklahoma Steel & Wire Co., Inc. Primary competitors for prestressed concrete (PC) strand are Sumiden Wire Products Corporation and Wire Mesh Corporation. Import competition is significant in certain segments of the PC strand and steel wire reinforcing products markets not subject to “Buy America” requirements, resulting in antidumping and countervailing duty trade cases against offshore PC strand suppliers.
