Golden Entertainment Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company's casino business operates in a highly competitive casino, hotel, and hospitality industry. It competes with numerous casinos and casino-hotels of varying size and quality within its markets, as well as with non-gaming resorts, vacation destinations, and other entertainment businesses. Competitors differ in brand recognition, marketing strategies, financial resources, amenities, management expertise, and geographic reach. Many regional and national competitors possess greater brand recognition and resources, enabling potential expansion. The company also faces competition from potential new casino gaming legalization and expansion by Native American tribes, particularly in California and Arizona. Its branded taverns compete with other casinos, taverns, and entertainment venues. Additionally, competition is increasing from online gaming platforms, including mobile gaming apps, state-sponsored lotteries, card clubs, sportsbook facilities, fantasy sports websites, and other legalized gaming forms. Online gaming has been approved in Nevada, with proposed legislation in other states and at the federal level, which may further intensify competitive pressures.
