Continental Resources Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company operates in a competitive environment for acquiring properties, marketing crude oil and natural gas, and securing trained personnel. Competition for capital investment in the crude oil and natural gas industry is also significant. Competitors vary by region and may possess greater financial, technical, and personnel resources, allowing them to pay higher prices for properties, minerals, and exploratory prospects, and to evaluate, bid for, and purchase more properties than the company. The company's ability to acquire prospects and develop reserves depends on its capacity to evaluate and select suitable properties and complete transactions economically amid this competition. Supply chain disruptions have caused shortages and increased costs, potentially intensifying competition for materials and services. Factors such as climate change activism, fuel conservation, renewable energy demands, and technological advances may reduce demand for crude oil and natural gas. The company is subject to stringent environmental, health, and safety regulations comparable to those affecting its competitors.
