Description of Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited
Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, incorporated in Bermuda in 2002, is a global underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance. The company operates through subsidiaries including Aspen Bermuda Limited, Aspen Specialty Insurance Company, Aspen American Insurance Company, Aspen Insurance UK Limited, and Aspen Underwriting Limited, which manages Lloyd's Syndicate 4711. It also maintains branch operations in Canada, Singapore, and Switzerland. Aspen's principal office is located in Bermuda. From 2019 until May 2025, Aspen was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Highlands Bermuda Holdco, Ltd., affiliated with investment funds managed by Apollo Global Management, Inc. In May 2025, Aspen completed its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange, with Apollo shareholders selling shares but retaining approximately 82.1% ownership. On February 24, 2026, Aspen was acquired by a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Sompo, a global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty insurance and reinsurance.
