Chainlink (LINK-USD) is a decentralized oracle network and cryptocurrency that aims to link smart contracts to real-world data and events outside of the blockchain ecosystem.

As of November 2021, LINK has a market capitalization of over $35 billion and is one of the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

For example, it can be used by a decentralized finance application to obtain real-time market data, or by an insurance company to trigger a payout based on external events such as weather patterns.
