Varex Imaging's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The imaging components industry is highly competitive, with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) either producing X-ray imaging components internally or outsourcing to suppliers such as Varex and other competitors. Success in this sector requires anticipating changes in the business environment, technological innovation, and customer demand. Continuous investment in research and development, product performance, quality improvement, and cost reduction is essential. Significant capital investment and manufacturing scale are important factors in reducing costs. In the medical segment, competition includes the in-house X-ray tube manufacturing operations of major diagnostic imaging systems companies, which also serve as primary OEM customers. To compete effectively, companies must offer advantages in technology, product performance, quality, availability, or price. The company sells a substantial volume of X-ray tubes to OEM customers with internal production capabilities and competes with OEMs such as Canon and Philips Healthcare, as well as other suppliers serving smaller OEMs and emerging manufacturers. The digital detectors business similarly faces strong competition, with sales to various OEM customers.
