Generations Bank operates in a competitive environment for loan origination and deposit attraction, facing competition from various financial institutions, many of which are larger and have greater financial resources. Loan competitors include mortgage brokers, mortgage banking companies, commercial banks, savings banks, the U.S. Government, credit unions, leasing companies, insurance companies, real estate conduits, and other financial service providers. Deposit competition primarily comes from commercial banks, savings banks, and credit unions, as well as online financial institutions and non-depository entities such as mutual fund companies, securities and brokerage firms, and insurance companies. In its primary market of Seneca County, Generations Bank held a 23.3% deposit market share as of June 30, 2023, ranking third among seven banking institutions in the county, excluding credit unions. The market area is predominantly rural, with below-average median household income and a declining population in recent years.
