Cvb Financial's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The banking and financial services industry is highly competitive due to evolving laws, regulations, technology, product delivery systems, and consolidation among insured financial institutions. The company competes for loans, deposits, and customers with commercial banks, savings and loan associations, savings banks, securities and brokerage firms, mortgage companies, insurance companies, finance companies, money market funds, credit unions, and other nonbank financial service providers. These include online banks, peer-to-peer or marketplace payment processors, FinTech companies, lenders, and other small business and consumer lenders. Competitors vary in size, with many possessing larger total assets and capitalization, greater access to capital markets, and a broader range of financial products and services. Some smaller competitors, including non-bank entities, may be more agile and responsive to customer preferences. The Department of Justice reviews bank mergers considering market factors such as the impact of credit unions and other non-bank competitors, interest rates, loan types, service quality, convenience, customer demographics, and local financing needs.
