Energy Transfer Lp's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The natural gas business encompasses gathering, compression, treating, transportation, storage, and marketing services and is highly competitive. In the transportation and storage segment, primary competitors are other pipelines, competing based on location, capacity, price, and reliability. Competition also exists in securing natural gas supplies for gathering, treating, and marketing. Competitors include major integrated oil and gas companies, interstate and intrastate pipelines, and other entities involved in gathering, compressing, treating, processing, transporting, and marketing natural gas. Many competitors possess greater capital resources and control larger natural gas supplies. Marketing competition involves marketing affiliates of interstate pipelines, major integrated oil and gas companies, as well as local and national natural gas gatherers, brokers, and marketers of various sizes and resources. Local utilities and distributors also participate in marketing activities. In markets served by the company's natural gas liquids (NGL) pipelines, competition arises from other pipeline companies.
