National Fuel Gas's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The Company operates in the natural gas industry, competing with other providers of natural gas and alternative energy sources such as fuel oil, geothermal, and electrification technologies. Competition factors include price, service, reliability, and product performance. The Integrated Upstream and Gathering Segment, which includes Seneca and Midstream Company, competes with major integrated and independent natural gas producers and marketers in the sale of natural gas and in acquiring, exploring, and developing mineral rights and leasehold interests. Seneca utilizes advanced technologies and maintains firm transportation and sales contracts along with financial hedging strategies. The Pipeline and Storage Segment, Supply Corporation, competes with other pipeline companies transporting gas in the northeastern United States and with companies providing gas storage services. Supply Corporation's facilities are located near the Marcellus and Utica shale production areas in Pennsylvania and have interconnections with producers.

National Fuel Gas's BCG Growth-Share Matrix

Relative market share (vs National Fuel Gas's largest competitor by market cap) against industry revenue growth, using the standard textbook thresholds (1.0x share, 10% growth) a common framework, not a precision instrument.

National Fuel Gas's Competitive Forces (Porter's Five Forces)

Only the forces this data can support honestly are shown; the other three are marked as such rather than guessed.
