Surrozen operates in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, which are characterized by rapid technological advancements and intense competition. The company faces competition from multinational pharmaceutical companies, established biotechnology firms, specialty pharmaceutical companies, universities, academic institutions, government agencies, and other research organizations. In the treatment of retinal diseases, Surrozen competes with large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies that have commercially approved products.
