Description of Smurfit Westrock Plc

Smurfit Westrock, established in July 2024 through the combination of Smurfit Kappa Group Limited and WestRock Company, is a holding company for its wholly-owned subsidiaries Smurfit Kappa and WestRock. These subsidiaries manufacture paper-based packaging products in Europe, Latin America, and North America. The company’s operations include sourcing raw materials such as wood and recovered fiber, producing various grades of board, and converting these materials into packaging products. Its product range includes corrugated containers made from containerboard, consumer packaging made from paperboard, solidboard, kraft paper, graphic board, paper sacks, and bag-in-box packaging. Containerboard, consisting of linerboard and medium, serves as the intermediate material for corrugated sheets, with linerboard produced from virgin fiber (kraftliner) or recovered paper (testliner). Smurfit Westrock is dual-listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.
The registrant's operating business segments consist of North America, Europe, MEA and APAC, and LATAM. Each segment operates an integrated system of mills and plants primarily producing various grades of containerboard, which are converted into corrugated containers or sold to third parties. The North America segment additionally produces paperboard, kraft paper, market pulp, and other paper-based packaging products including folding cartons, inserts, labels, and displays, and is involved in the assembly of displays and distribution of packaging products. The Europe, MEA and APAC segment manufactures other paper types such as solidboard, graphic board, sack kraft paper, machine glazed paper (collectively referred to as kraft paper), graphic paper, and paper-based packaging including honeycomb, solidboard packaging, folding cartons, inserts, labels, and bag-in-box packaging. This segment operates in Europe, Argentina, Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. The LATAM segment encompasses forestry operations and produces paper types such as paperboard and kraft paper, along with paper-based packaging products like folding cartons and paper sacks.
