Description of Mechanics Bancorp
Mechanics Bancorp, a Washington corporation, operates primarily through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mechanics Bank, a full-service community bank headquartered in Walnut Creek, California. Established over 121 years ago, Mechanics Bank maintains 166 branches across California, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii. On September 2, 2025, Mechanics Bank merged with HomeStreet Bank, acquiring HomeStreet's assets, liabilities, and operations. Prior to the merger, HomeStreet Bank engaged in commercial and consumer banking, real estate lending, and insurance sales.
Mechanics Bank offers a range of financial products and services, including consumer and business banking, commercial lending, cash management, private banking, wealth management, and trust services. The bank ceased originating auto loans in February 2023 and continued servicing its existing portfolio until May 1, 2025, when servicing was outsourced. The institution operates 166 full-service branches and three commercial lending centers.
Loan products include commercial business loans, residential mortgages, consumer loans, commercial real estate loans, and construction loans. Lending divisions consist of Commercial Banking, Mortgage and Consumer Lending, Multifamily Lending, Commercial Real Estate Lending, Residential Construction Lending, and Private Banking. The bank employs prudent underwriting practices to manage credit risk, primarily extending commercial loans to businesses with strong financial histories. These loans are secured by various assets and often require full recourse from owners.
