Itt Inc's Business Segments

ITT Industries, Inc., is a global multi-industry company engaged directly and through its subsidiaries in the design and manufacture of a wide range of engineered products and the provision of related services. Our four principal business segments are Fluid Technology, Defense Electronics & Services, Motion & Flow Control, and Electronic Components. Prior to January 1, 2002 these segments were named Pumps & Complementary Products, Defense Products & Services, Specialty Products and Connectors & Switches. Also prior to January 1, 2002, Engineered Process Solutions Group (formerly named Engineered Values) and now part of our Fluid Technology Segment, reported into Specialty Products (now, Motion & Flow Control). Material herein is presented on a basis consistent with those business segment changes.

The Fluid Technology segment is affected by strong competition, changing economic conditions, industry overcapacity that leads to intense pricing pressures, and public bidding in some markets. Management of Fluid Technology responds to competitive pressures by utilizing strong distribution networks, strong brand names, broad product lines focused on market niches, a global customer base, a continuous stream of new products developed from a strong technology base, a focus on quality and customer service, and through continuous
cost improvement programs and life cycle cost initiatives.

In Defense Electronics & Services, business consolidations continue to change the competitive environment. We have adjusted to these changes by focusing on the defense electronics and services markets, by making process improvements, and through capacity rationalization. In most of the markets served by Defense Electronics & Services, competition is based primarily upon price, quality, technological expertise, cycle time, and service.

In Motion & Flow Control, competition is a significant factor which has resulted in increased pressure to reduce prices and, therefore, costs. Product capability, quality, engineering support, and experience are also important competitive factors.

In Electronic Components, competitive pressures continue on a global basis. In most of the markets served, competition is based primarily upon price, quality, technical expertise, and customer service.

ITT Inc. operates through four primary segments: Industrial Process, Motion Technologies, Interconnect Solutions (ICS), and Control Technologies. Each segment caters to specific industries and provides highly engineered solutions that meet diverse customer needs in large and attractive markets across the globe, particularly in industrial and transportation sectors.

Industrial Process

The Industrial Process segment focuses on the manufacturing of engineered fluid process equipment, serving a diverse clientele in critical infrastructure industries. These include oil & gas, mining, power generation, chemical processes, and general industrial markets. This segment is also an aftermarket service provider.

Core Offerings:
- Goulds Pumps, Inc.: This division is a market leader with over 160 years of design history, specializing in centrifugal pumps for various industries. Their extensive portfolio includes ANSI and ISO chemical pumps, API pumps for petrochemical applications, slurry and process pumps for mining, and paper stock pumps for the pulp & paper industry. Their product range also covers vertical, axial flow, and multi-stage pumps.

- ITT Engineered Valves: A renowned manufacturer of process valves serving sectors such as biopharmaceuticals and industrial markets. Notable products include the Fabri-Valve (knife-gate valves) and Pure-Flo (sanitary diaphragm valves), the latter being a key player in the biopharmaceutical market.

- ITT PRO Services: This service line aims to extend equipment lifespan through comprehensive aftermarket services. These include parts supply, field service, energy assessments, repairs, and maintenance. Additionally, PRO Services encompasses several advanced offerings like ProSmart and Plant Performance Services.

- ITT Ctreat: This unit specializes in water treatment systems tailored for offshore oil and gas platforms, effectively converting seawater into potable and process water, vital for major global oil producers.

Motion Technologies

Headquartered in Lainate, Italy, the Motion Technologies segment manufactures specialized components such as brake pads, shock absorbers, and dampening technologies primarily for automotive and public transport sectors.

- Friction Technologies: This business unit focuses on innovative research to produce high-performance brake pads. These products cater to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and meet specific regulatory requirements across geographic markets.

- KONI: Dedicated to developing high-performance shock absorbers, KONI categorizes its offerings into railway rolling stock, automotive and racing, and commercial vehicles (buses, trucks, and trailers). Located in Valencia, California, Control Technologies manufactures specialized equipment such as actuators, valves, switches, and vibration-isolation systems, aimed primarily at aerospace and military applications.

- CT Aerospace: This sub-segment emphasizes flow control and actuation components necessary for various aircraft systems. Notable products encompass fuel pumps, electro-mechanical actuators, and temperature and limit switches. CT Aerospace prides itself on a proven track record of innovation and reliability, alongside a certified repair station tailored for FAA standards.
