Description of Gyre Therapeutics Inc
Gyre Therapeutics, Inc., together with its majority indirectly owned subsidiary Beijing Continent Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. (doing business as Gyre Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd.), is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company operating in the People's Republic of China and the United States. The company focuses on developing and commercializing small-molecule therapies for organ fibrosis and inflammatory diseases. Gyre has established a commercial presence in fibrotic diseases through products including ETUARY® (pirfenidone), an anti-fibrotic therapy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), which generated $106.1 million in sales in 2025. The company also markets Etorel® (nintedanib), approved for IPF and other fibrosing lung diseases, and Contiva® (avatrombopag), an oral thrombopoietin receptor agonist for thrombocytopenia associated with chronic liver disease and chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenia. Gyre is developing Hydronidone (F351), a derivative of pirfenidone targeting liver fibrosis, with a focus on chronic hepatitis B-associated and metabolic-associated liver fibrosis in the PRC and U.S. The company utilizes its commercial portfolio to support late-stage product development, expand indications, and address unmet medical needs in fibrosis and related inflammatory diseases. Gyre has entered into a merger agreement with Cullgen Inc. to advance its strategic growth.
The Company operates two distinct reportable segments, defined as components for which separate financial information is available and regularly reviewed by the Chief Operating Decision Maker (CODM) to allocate resources and assess performance. Segment profit or loss is measured by consolidated net income, which the CODM uses to evaluate income from segment assets, decide on profit reinvestment, and monitor budget versus actual results. The CODM group comprises the Executive Chairman of Gyre’s Board of Directors, who also serves as Gyre’s Interim Chief Executive Officer, and Gyre’s Chief Operating Officer, who also serves as Gyre Pharmaceuticals’ General Manager.
