Description of Drdgold Limited's Business Segments

The Group's primary revenue source is the sale of gold. Its operating segments are defined by operational structure and mining infrastructure, including metallurgical plants and reclamation sites capable of independent operation. The reportable operating segments are Ergo and FWGR. Ergo is a surface gold retreatment operation treating old slime dams and sand dumps located south of Johannesburg's central business district and the East and Central Rand goldfields. It comprises three plants and a solar plant with a battery energy storage system (BESS). FWGR is a surface gold retreatment operation treating old slime dams in the West Rand goldfields, consisting of the Driefontein 2 plant and infrastructure to process tailings from the Driefontein 5 and 3 slimes dams, with residue deposited on the Driefontein 4 tailings storage facility (TSF). The corporate office and other reconciling items do not constitute a separate segment as they do not generate mining revenue. Segment operating profit, calculated as revenue minus cash operating costs, is the primary measure of profit or loss. The Group's Executive Committee, serving as the chief operating decision maker (CODM), reviews revenue, cash operating costs, and additions to property, plant, and equipment for each segment.
