Description of Antero Resources
Antero Resources Corporation is an independent oil and natural gas company engaged in the exploration, development, production, and acquisition of natural gas, NGLs, and oil properties located in the Appalachian Basin. We focus on unconventional reservoirs, which can generally be characterized as fractured shale formations.
Antero’s consolidated subsidiary, Antero Midstream Partners LP (“Antero Midstream”) is a public master limited partnership which owns, operates, and develops midstream energy infrastructure primarily to service Antero’s production and completion activity. Antero’s consolidated financial statements include Antero Midstream’s financial position and results of operations.
We have assembled a portfolio of long-lived properties that are characterized by what we believe to be low geologic risk and repeatability. Our drilling opportunities are focused in the Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale of the Appalachian Basin.
Segments
1. Natural Gas Exploration and Production:
- Antero Resources is extensively involved in the exploration and extraction of natural gas. The company employs advanced drilling techniques, including hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling, to maximize production efficiency within its leased acreage. The company owns a significant number of drilling locations within the Marcellus and Utica shale formations, which are among the richest sources of natural gas in the United States.
2. Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Production:
- Antero produces a variety of natural gas liquids, including ethane, propane, and butane. These NGLs are extracted during the natural gas processing phase and have applications in various industries, including petrochemicals, heating, and fuel markets.
3. Water Management Services:
- Antero Resources has established its own water management services to support its drilling and production operations. This includes water sourcing, transportation, reuse, and disposal services, ensuring that their operations are not only efficient but also environmentally responsible.
4. Midstream Operations:
- Antero has integrated midstream operations, which involve the transportation and processing of natural gas and NGLs. The company’s midstream segment is operated through Antero Midstream Corporation, which provides essential infrastructure that connects upstream production to downstream markets. This includes pipelines and processing facilities that enhance their operational efficiency.
