In a groundbreaking collaboration, Mattel Films is partnering with ShadowMachine, Nuyorican Productions, and Grammy-winning actor Anthony Ramos to produce an animated feature film based on the popular children’s series, Bob the Builder. This innovative venture aims to reimagine the beloved series for today’s audience with a fresh and international narrative style, further diversifying the content portfolio of the companies involved.

The film, which is still in development stages, aims to bring the beloved character of Bob the Builder to life in new and exciting ways. The much-awaited project will feature Anthony Ramos, known for his roles in major productions such as Hamilton and In the Heights. In addition to his starring role, Ramos is also set to contribute as a producer to the film.

This announcement comes on the back of Mattel’s recent performance in the third quarter of 2023. The toy manufacturer saw a substantial increase in its revenue by 9.24% year on year, outpacing the average revenue of competitors who managed growth of 1.36% in the same period. Mattel’s profitability margin also stood at 7.63%, resonating a higher profitability compared to its rivals in the same quarter.

However, the third quarter also encountered a challenge, as Mattel Inc.’s net income fell by a significant 49.52% compared to last year. Although a sharp decrease, it’s an underlining trend in the industry as most of the company’s competitors also experienced a contraction in net income by around 27.82%.Mattel’s collaboration on the animated Bob the Builder film seeks to tap into the extensive fan base of the show while creating innovative, engaging content that, if successful, could contribute to the growth and progress of the company.
