LILM Supports its Designation as Advanced Mobility Site

Lilium N.V. the global pioneer in Regional Air Mobility (RAM) and developer of the first all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jet, announced a significant development on February 8, 2024. The company designated the future Orlando International Airport (MCO) vertiport as a network hub for Lilium Jet operators in central Florida. This strategic move aims to strengthen Lilium’s presence in the region and enable efficient operations for its innovative urban air transportation system.

The selection of Orlando as a key network hub is not a random choice. Florida is well-known for its progressive approach to new mobility technologies, and the state’s legislature has been at the forefront in implementing policies for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). As part of these efforts, Lilium also expressed its support for Florida House Bill 981, which proposes the designation of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) as the AAM test site for the State of Florida.

By designating the future Orlando International Airport vertiport as a Lilium network hub, the company ensures seamless connectivity and efficient operations for its eVTOL jet operators in central Florida. The vertiport will serve as a central location for aircraft take-offs and landings, allowing passengers to experience the convenience and time-saving benefits of Lilium’s innovative air travel technology.

Lilium’s commitment to establishing a strong presence in the central Florida region aligns with its broader vision of revolutionizing urban mobility. The company’s eVTOL jets offer significant advantages over traditional aircraft, including reduced noise emissions and environmental impact, increased safety, and enhanced flexibility in reaching otherwise inaccessible locations.

This announcement by Lilium builds upon a previous development announced on November 10, 2023. The company extended its existing partnership with InoBat, a renowned battery cell manufacturer. InoBat will provide high-volume production of Lilium Jets’ high-performance battery cells, contributing to Lilium’s multiple-sourcing strategy for cell production. This collaboration ensures a robust LILM guaranteeing a seamless entry into service and continual availability of these critical components in the years to come.

The partnership with InoBat signifies Lilium’s commitment to sourcing high-quality battery cells for its all-electric eVTOL jet. The company recognizes the importance of a healthy and stable supply chain to support its ambitious expansion plans and meet the increasing demand for its revolutionary air mobility solution.
