Optical solutions and high-performance microdisplay provider, Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN), is set to venture into new defense realms with multiple contracts and demonstrations in the pipeline. Responding to emerging defense needs, the corporation’s focus is on creating low latency digital night vision systems and expanding into international defense markets.
The Massachusett-based corporation has recently announced receipt of a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from a new Defense customer. As part of the contract, they are to facilitate the integration of Kopin’s organic light emitting diode (OLED) microdisplay with a power efficient low latency digital night vision sensor (PEDBNVIS). This ground-breaking technology is expected to rival analog goggle performance based on speed and efficiency. In another breakthrough reveal, Kopin has declared that it will demonstrate its head-up display (HUD) technology during the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Week, scheduled from May 6th to May 10th in Tampa, Florida. The HUD concepts are designed to be easily readable during the day and at night, addressing an urgent need for advanced, head-mounted display solutions within the defense sector.
Simultaneously, Kopin is broadening its KOPN It has gained its third production order for OLED microdisplays used in thermal imaging vision systems, both mounted and handheld, designed specifically for the Indian Armed Forces.
