In a strategic move to support Japan’s digital hub ambitions, NTT DATA-led JUNO Submarine Cable System, operated by Seren Juno Network Co. Ltd. and Seren Juno Network America Inc, will deploy Ciena’s GeoMesh Extreme, powered by WaveLogic 6 Extreme. This deployment on the 10,000km JUNO cable, set to launch at the end of 2024, will greatly enhance network capacity and enable the delivery of high-capacity services across the Asia Pacific region.
Meanwhile, Ciena’s corporate customers have seen fluctuations in their cost of revenue and revenue figures. In the first quarter of 2024, costs of revenue for Ciena’s clients rose by 1.98% year on year but were trimmed sequentially by -9.93%. Revenue for Ciena Corp also experienced a decline of -19.58% year on year and -12.23% sequentially. However, the revenue for Ciena Corp’s corporate clients saw a rise of 1.69% year on year but fell sequentially by -5.79%.
Despite these challenges, Ciena Corp’s stock performance has been relatively stable year to date, with a 1.75% increase. This stands in contrast to the index of the company’s corporate customers, which has experienced a significant decline of -21.61% in the same time frame.
