Description of Strata Critical Medical Inc's Business Segments
Strata operates two reportable business segments: Logistics and Clinical. The Logistics segment, marketed under the Trinity brand, comprises Air Logistics, which involves air transportation of human organs and related items using fixed-wing aircraft and commercial flights with on-board couriers; Ground Logistics, which covers ground transportation of human organs and related items; and Organ Placement, which provides administrative services for donor organ acceptance and transplant coordination. The Clinical segment, marketed under the Keystone brand, includes Transplant Clinical services such as Organ Recovery, involving surgical procurement of donor organs; Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) to improve organ outcomes; and Preservation, which operates devices to preserve organs. Additional Clinical services include Cardiac Care, encompassing cardiac perfusion, blood management, autotransfusion, and disposables under hospital contracts, as well as services like Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), perfusion temporary staffing, and equipment rental. Strata's Logistics segment operates on a contractual basis with transplant centers and related organizations, utilizing an asset-light air logistics model that primarily relies on third-party owned and operated aircraft. Costs are borne by operators, with fixed hourly rates negotiated to establish a predictable cost structure. Capacity purchase agreements provide guaranteed flight commitments and dedicated aircraft access.
