Description of Liqtech International Inc
We are a clean technology company that provides state-of-the-art technologies
for gas and liquid purification by manufacturing ceramic silicon carbide filters.
For more than a decade, we have developed and manufactured products of re-crystallized
silicon carbide. We specialize in two business areas: ceramic membranes for liquid
filtration and diesel particulate filters for the control of soot exhaust particles
from diesel engines. We are phasing out the fabrication of kiln furniture for
the refractory industry. Using nanotechnology, we develop proprietary products
using patented silicon carbide technology. Our products are based on unique silicon
carbide membranes which facilitate new applications and improve existing technologies.
We market our products from our offices in the United States and Denmark, and
through local representatives in Singapore, Germany, France and Brazil. The products
are shipped directly to customers from our production facilities in the United
States and Denmark.
LiqTech International Inc. is an innovative company specializing in advanced silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic filtration technology. The company operates through three primary divisions, providing diverse products and services that cater to various sectors, notably liquid filtration, exhaust emission control, and kiln furniture. Below is an extensive overview of each segment, the products and services offered, and insights into LiqTech’s international operations.
Segments, Products, and Services
1. Ceramic Silicon Carbide Membranes for Liquid Filtration
LiqTech manufactures and sells ceramic silicon carbide membranes and membrane systems, branded under LiqTech,Cometas, and Provital. The company utilizes patented SiC technology for various applications in liquid filtration:
- Produced Water Filtration:
LiqTechs SiC membranes are specifically designed to treat produced water – a byproduct of oil and gas extraction. The filtration capabilities support oil and gas companies by reducing contaminants, thus enhancing environmental compliance. The company has established contracts with major oil and gas firms for the provision and servicing of produced water filters on offshore platforms.
- Heavy Metal Removal:
LiqTech filters are deployed in mining and energy applications to remove heavy metals from wastewater. Successful implementations include providing solutions for industrial clients in Germany, Denmark, and the United Arab Emirates.
- Pre-Filtration for Reverse Osmosis:
The SiC membranes are utilized for the pre-filtration of sea and surface water before undergoing reverse osmosis, ensuring effective removal of suspended solids. Notable collaborations include partnerships with water supply companies in Serbia and Malaysia, and industrial wastewater systems in South Korea.
- Wastewater Treatment:
The membranes can be employed in wastewater treatment facilities to eliminate suspended solids. Confirmed implementations include successful projects in Egypt, China, and South Korea, leading to sales for several commercial installations.
- Drinking Water Production:
LiqTech’s technology is adaptable for producing clean drinking water by removing precipitated salts and organic materials, enhancing overall water quality. The company maintains cooperative agreements with significant pump manufacturers to promote innovative water treatment solutions.
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF)
LiqTech manufactures robust diesel particulate filters designed for exhaust emission control, primarily targeting the verified retrofit and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) markets. Key features and applications include:
- Proprietary Nano Washcoat:
DPFs are coated with a unique nano washcoat that enhances catalytic properties, leading to superior filtration of exhaust emissions.
- High Soot Load Handling:
The SiC DPFs excel in applications with a high soot load, ideal for off-road and heavy-duty vehicles. Their durability and performance are particularly beneficial for garbage trucks, port vehicles, and construction machinery.
- Global Sales:
The DPFs are marketed under the LiqTech brand name and distributed through specialized channels worldwide, ensuring comprehensive market reach.
Kiln Furniture
LiqTech also produces high-quality kiln furniture essential for ceramics manufacturing. The benefits offered by SiC kiln furniture include:
- Higher Thermal Efficiency:
The thinner construction of SiC kiln furniture allows for more efficient use of kiln space, enabling maximum item capacity per firing cycle.
- Durability and Cost Efficiency:
Compared to traditional materials like cordierite and mullite, SiC kiln furniture withstands higher temperatures and has a longer lifespan, resulting in reduced firing times and lower energy costs.
International Operations
LiqTech has established a significant international footprint, engaging in operations across various regions globally. The company collaborates with numerous international partners and clients, including leading oil and gas companies, water treatment suppliers, and industrial firms. By venturing into markets such as Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, LiqTech has positioned itself as a key player in advanced filtration and emission solutions.
