Green Thumb Industries Inc., founded in 2014 and based in Chicago, Illinois, is a national cannabis consumer packaged goods company and retailer. The company commenced operations in 2015 after obtaining a medical marijuana license in Illinois and has expanded to fourteen U.S. states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia. Green Thumb manufactures, distributes, and markets cannabis consumer packaged goods brands including &Shine, Beboe, Dogwalkers, Doctor Solomon’s, Good Green, incredibles, and RYTHM. Its products are sold through third-party retail stores as well as its own retail locations. The company owns and operates retail cannabis stores, including the national chain RISE Dispensaries and other stores under various names, offering both its own and third-party products. Green Thumb employs approximately 5,000 people and serves millions of patients and customers annually. It is publicly traded on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the symbol GTII and on the OTCQX Best Market in the U.S. under the symbol GTBIF. The company conducts operations through state-licensed medical and/or adult-use cannabis businesses, maintaining corporate identities as required by state licensing regulations.

Management assessed its reporting units in accordance with ASC 280 Segment Reporting and concluded that the individual components within each segment were economically similar.
