Strong Eps Underlines Double Digits Sales Growth
Progressive Corp announced fiscal third quarter 2020 operating surplus of $1984.6 millions
For the fiscal third quarter 2020 income surged by 82.39 % to $2.59 per share, followed by Sales increase of 14.86 % to $ 10.95 billions, compared with the prior year period.  From second quarter 2020, profits fell by -14.8 % from $3.04 per share and Sales decreased by -0.22 % from $10.97 billions. Progressive Corp pointed out it's broad-based Sales growth, where sales increased within Personal Lines Agent +2.21%, Personal Lines Direct +11.93%, Total Personal Lines +6.61%, Commercial Auto Business +12.13% 3 The segments with the increases in income include Personal Lines Agent 15.24%, Personal Lines 6.17%, Other 78500%, while segments with earnings decrease were Personal Lines Direct -6.23%, Commercial Auto -8.58%, Investments -28.82%. All of this led to 81.46 % increase in company's bottom-line to $1,530.800 millions in the fiscal third quarter 2020, from net earnings of $843.600 millions reported in the fiscal third quarter 2020 a year ago. Progressive Corp also emphasized it's improving profit margins, where net margin rose to 13.98% in fiscal third quarter 2020, and operating margin edged up to 18.13%. Progressive Corp is expected to report next financial results on March 29, 2021.
