National Presto Industries Inc's Comment on Competition and Industry Peers

The company operates in a competitive and price-sensitive market for housewares and small electrical appliances, facing competition from both larger and smaller firms. Customers may also use private labels or purchase brokered products directly from the Orient. Key competitive factors include product features, pricing, quality, marketing, warranties, and service. In the Defense segment, competition is based primarily on technical competence, product quality, manufacturing experience, and price, with competitors of various sizes. AMTEC is a significant competitor in this segment, having been awarded multiple prime contracts by the United States Army for the 40mm Ammunition System, including contracts previously held by DSE, Inc., whose assets were acquired by AMTEC. AMTEC has served as the sole prime contractor on several contracts valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with deliveries completed through 2019.

National Presto Industries Inc's SWOT

Every point below is a fixed rule applied to a metric already shown elsewhere on this page (Market Structure, Profitability, Valuation, Run-Rate, Stock Performance, Quality Breadth) not an independent strategic assessment. A blank quadrant means no rule was met, not that none apply.

Strengths

  • Latest-quarter revenue run-rate is accelerating (+7.7% annualized vs trailing 12 months).
  • Outperforming the U.S.A. 500 over the trailing 12 months.

Weaknesses

  • Return on equity 18.8 points below the industry aggregate.
  • Low relative market share vs the industry leader (0.01x).

Opportunities

  • Industry revenue growing at a healthy 15.0% median pace.
  • Trades at a lower P/E than the industry average (21.6x vs 36.0x) despite a higher return on invested capital -- a possible re-rating opportunity.

Threats

No rule matched.

Methodology: mechanical, rule-based SWOT. Each bullet reuses a figure already sourced and cited elsewhere on this page; nothing here is generated narrative or independent analyst judgment.
