Description of Independence Contract Drilling Inc

Independence Contract Drilling, Inc. (ICD), incorporated in Delaware in 2011, provides land-based contract drilling services for oil and natural gas producers focusing on unconventional resource plays in the United States. The company owns and operates a fleet of 26 AC-powered drilling rigs designed for pad drilling. ICD primarily operates in the Permian Basin and the Haynesville Shale, with additional operations in the Eagle Ford Shale, Mid-Continent, and Eaglebine regions. Its facilities are located in Houston and Midland, Texas. The company's drilling rigs feature AC programmable motors, omni-directional walking systems, 1500-HP drawworks, and high-pressure mud pumps to enhance drilling efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve energy efficiency. ICD classifies its rigs into 200 Series and 300 Series, with the 300 Series equipped for ultra-long laterals and high-torque operations. The company is transitioning its fleet toward predominantly 300 Series rigs to meet customer demand. ICD supports a manufacturing wellbore model focused on multi-well pad development programs aimed at reducing field development costs and accelerating cash flows for exploration and production companies. The company's operations are influenced by the cyclical nature of the oil and natural gas industry and exploration and production activity in its operating regions.
