A deal between the two food delivery giants was pronounced where Uber agreed to buy foodpanda’s operations in Taiwan. The transaction, however, is under subject to regulatory approval and various customary closing conditions and expected to reach its completion in the first half of 2025.

The acquisition of foodpanda marks Uber Eats’ continued investment in the Taiwanese food delivery market. Despite this, the increase surpasses the decline experienced by many of its competitors. An examination of the market share indicated a slight dip for Uber, dropping from 89.03% in Q4 2023 to 88.8% in Q1 2024. Nevertheless, the company’s market share over the past year stands firmly at 89.18%.Although Uber continues to record net losses, strides are being made to provide further options to their customer base and drive the necessary growth.
