Theratechnologies Showcases Versatility of SORT1+ Technology in Preclinical Data Presentation
Theratechnologies, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of innovative therapies, recently presented preclinical data highlighting the versatility and flexibility of their SORT1+ Technology platform. The data were shared during a poster session at the 2024 annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in San Diego, California.
The research conducted by Theratechnologies focused on their investigational camptothecin-peptide conjugates, which were found to be well tolerated and associated with significant tumor regression in xenograft models of colorectal cancer (CRC) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Additionally, the study demonstrated a synergistic anti-tumor effect and good tolerability when combining two peptide drug conjugates with different payloads.
This breakthrough research emphasizes the potential of Theratechnologies’ SORT1+ Technology platform in the field of oncology. The company’s platform allows for the targeted delivery of therapeutic payloads directly into cancer cells, enhancing the efficacy of treatment while reducing systemic toxicity.
These recent findings build upon Theratechnologies’ ongoing efforts in the development of innovative therapies for advanced ovarian cancer. The company has previously stated their initiation of an increased dose level in the Phase 1 clinical trial of sudocetaxel zendusortide, their investigational peptide-drug conjugate that targets the sortilin receptor (SORT1). This receptor-targeted approach aims to expedite the internalization and delivery of the cytotoxic payload, docetaxel, directly into cancer cells.
The advancement to the next dose level in the Phase 1 trial of sudocetaxel zendusortide was approved by the studys Medical Review Committee (MRC), following the safety evaluation of the first cohort of patients. Theratechnologies is now actively recruiting patients for the second cohort, with one patient already enrolled and treated with the higher dose.
Enrollment of the first six participants in Part 3 of the Phase 1 clinical trial has been completed, further highlighting Theratechnologies’ commitment to advancing innovative therapies for advanced ovarian cancer. Sudocetaxel zendusortide, also known as TH1902, represents a novel approach in cancer treatment and offers the potential for improved outcomes in patients with this devastating disease.
The combination of these recent preclinical data showcasing the versatility of the SORT1+ Technology platform, along with the progress made in the clinical development of sudocetaxel zendusortide, underscores Theratechnologies’ dedication to addressing unmet needs in oncology and improving patient outcomes.
