Stratasys and BASF Announce Groundbreaking Partnership to Deliver New Polypropylene Material for Additive Manufacturing

Stratasys Ltd, a leading provider of polymer 3D printing solutions, has joined forces with BASF Forward AM to launch a groundbreaking new material, SAF Polypropylene (PP), for use on the Stratasys H350 printer. The material, set to be commercially available in the fourth quarter of 2024, will be showcased at the upcoming RAPID + TCT Expo in Los Angeles. This partnership aims to revolutionize the additive manufacturing industry by offering advanced solutions for additive and 3D printing.

Stratasys SAF PP, developed in collaboration with BASF Forward AM, is designed to provide exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties, making it ideal for a wide range of applications. The material combines the industry-leading capabilities of Stratasys’ SAF (Selective Absorption Fusion) technology with the superior performance of BASF’s innovative polypropylene.

With this new material, Stratasys is addressing the growing demand for functional and durable parts in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and consumer goods. By leveraging the capabilities of the Stratasys H350 printer, users can now produce high-quality prototypes, end-use parts, and low-volume production runs using SAF PP.

In addition to this groundbreaking partnership, Stratasys has also announced updates to its Industrial and Healthcare Business Unit products and Stratasys Direct. The company has introduced a new open platform for the F900 3D printer, enabling greater flexibility and compatibility for users. Furthermore, Stratasys is expanding its on-demand 3D printing capabilities, allowing customers to access a wider range of materials and services. Additionally, a new high-performance material has been introduced for its Fused Deposition Modeling line.

These updates demonstrate Stratasys’ commitment to constantly improving and enhancing its additive manufacturing capabilities to meet the evolving needs of its customers. By providing an open platform, more materials options, and increased functionalities, Stratasys is empowering its users to unlock new opportunities and push the boundaries of additive manufacturing.

In line with its operational transformation efforts, Stratasys has also completed the sale of its Stratasys Direct, Inc. facility in Austin, Texas to Cumberland Additive, Inc. This sale follows the company’s previous divestiture of the Stratasys Direct urethane facilities in August. These strategic decisions will allow Stratasys to focus on its core strengths and streamline its operations, ultimately benefiting its customers.

The partnership with BASF Forward AM, the updates to its product line, and the strategic divestitures highlight Stratasys’ commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. With the introduction of SAF PP and its other advancements, Stratasys is shaping the future of additive manufacturing and driving the industry forward.
