In an exciting development for the North Sea oil and gas industry, Schlumberger Limited (SLB) has announced that its joint venture, OneSubsea, and partner Subsea7 have been awarded a substantial integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract. The contract was granted by OKEA to accelerate the subsea tieback delivery to aging platforms for the profitable and sustainable marginal field development in the Bestla (formerly known as Brasse) Project, located in the offshore North Sea, Norway.
The collaboration between SLB’s OneSubsea and Subsea7 aims to address an imperative need for rejuvenating aging platforms and extending their operational life by utilizing subsea tiebacks. By employing this technique, OKEA aims to increase the extraction of resources from marginal fields more economically. This project aligns with the broader of maintaining a sustainable offshore oil and gas sector in the North Sea.
This recent contract award is not the first instance of collaboration between SLB’s OneSubsea and Subsea7. Previously, SLB announced the signing of a long-term strategic collaboration agreement with Equinor ASA, opening doors to exploratory work on two significant projects: the Wisting field offshore Norway and Bay Du Nord off Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. This partnership represents an innovative, integrated approach to working in the oil and gas industry.
The new contract with OKEA further demonstrates the credibility and expertise of SLB’s OneSubsea and Subsea7, as they continue to secure major contracts in the North Sea. This achievement reinforces the notion that the oil and gas SLB even as stakeholders seek to transition to more sustainable energy sources.
Through this strategic partnership, SLB’s OneSubsea and Subsea7 are poised to make significant contributions to the North Sea oil and gas sector. Their expertise and collaborative approach hold the potential to boost production from aging platforms, increase operational efficiency, and drive further sustainable development.
